Good to know
The Alanya region is a ribbon of coast roughly 50 km long, ending at a town that keeps going after the hotels close. Alanya itself sits under a rock headland crowned by a Seljuk castle, with the Red Tower at the old harbour, Cleopatra Beach to the west and a long sand beach running east. West of town the resort strip runs through Konaklı, Türkler, İncekum, Avsallar and Okurcalar, where large all-inclusive hotels back onto pine and sand. East of town Kestel, Mahmutlar and Kargıcak climb between the sea and the Taurus foothills, with more apartment blocks than hotels and residents who stay all winter.
Every transfer leaves Antalya Airport on the D400, the coastal dual carriageway heading east past Aksu, Serik, Manavgat and Side. The distance band across the region is 94 to 145 km: Okurcalar at the near end is about 80 minutes, Avsallar and İncekum about 85, Türkler and Konaklı around 95, Alanya itself roughly 105, and Kestel, Mahmutlar and Kargıcak 110 to 120. The road is flat and fast as far as Alanya; beyond the town it narrows and bends as the hills come down to the water. Summer afternoons add time near Serik and Manavgat, night arrivals run almost empty, and winter is quiet throughout.
The two halves of the region suit different holidays. West of Alanya — Okurcalar, Avsallar, İncekum, Türkler, Konaklı — is hotel country: wide sand, resorts you rarely leave, and a drive into town for an evening out. Alanya itself is walkable, with a market, a harbour and bars, and works for people who want a town rather than a compound. East, Kestel, Mahmutlar and Kargıcak are residential rather than touristic, quieter after dark and more shingle than sand. For transfers this matters twice: name the resort as well as the hotel, and book the return early, because a summer departure means leaving the coast four to five hours before take-off.

Alanya transfer — frequently asked questions
How far is Alanya from Antalya Airport?
Alanya town centre is about 125 km east of the airport, roughly 105 minutes by road. The wider region runs from 94 km at Okurcalar to 145 km at Kargıcak, so depending on your resort the drive is between about 80 minutes and two hours.
How long does the transfer from Antalya Airport to Alanya take?
Around 105 minutes to the centre in normal traffic, 80 to 85 minutes to the western resorts such as Okurcalar, Avsallar and İncekum, and up to two hours to Mahmutlar and Kargıcak east of town. Almost the whole route is dual carriageway. Summer afternoons around Serik and Manavgat are what usually adds time; night arrivals run faster.
Should I fly to Antalya or Gazipaşa for Alanya?
Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport is about 45 km east of Alanya, so the transfer stays well under an hour, but it handles far fewer flights. Antalya is 125 km away, roughly 105 minutes, with much more choice of airline and departure time. For most people the available flight decides it rather than the distance.
Is there a bus from Antalya Airport to Alanya?
No scheduled service runs from the terminal itself. Public transport means getting into Antalya, then to the intercity bus station, then a coach along the D400 — two changes with luggage and several hours. A private transfer covers the same distance door to door in about an hour and three quarters.
Which part of Alanya should we stay in?
If you want a town — market, harbour, restaurants within walking distance — stay in Alanya itself. Okurcalar, Avsallar, İncekum, Türkler and Konaklı west of town are large beachfront hotels where the holiday happens mainly on the property. Kestel, Mahmutlar and Kargıcak east of town are residential, with more apartments than hotels and quieter evenings.
How early should we leave the hotel for the flight home?
Work backwards: three hours at the airport in summer, plus the drive — around 105 minutes from Alanya, 80 to 95 from the western resorts, up to two hours from Kargıcak — plus a margin for afternoon traffic near Manavgat and Serik. From Alanya that comes out at roughly four and a half hours before departure.
