Leaving from the western end of Okurcalar has one small advantage: the car is out of the village within a minute or two, back over the Alara bridge and on through Kızılot towards Manavgat. Manavgat is where the morning can go wrong, because the D400 runs right through the town and its junctions fill up from mid-morning in summer. Beyond it the road opens out across the Serik plain to Aksu and the airport turn. On a normal day the 92 km take the same 80 minutes as the journey out, and before dawn often a little less.

With the beach at the foot of the garden, many guests squeeze in one last swim before they go. That is easy to plan as long as the pickup hour, not the swim, sets the morning: count back from the flight, allow the 80 minutes on the road and the time your airline wants at the desk, then add a margin for Manavgat.
