Departure is the easy direction from here. Konaklı lies west of Alanya, so a car heading for Antalya never has to cross the town: it leaves the shopping centre forecourt at the agreed hour, joins the D400 westbound and stays on it, past Türkler, Avsallar and Okurcalar, to Manavgat and on to the airport. The stretch most likely to slow you is the Manavgat area later in the morning, when local traffic joins the highway. At dawn, with the shops still shut, the whole 114 km is open road and the 95 minutes are usually what it takes.

Check which airport your flight home uses. Gazipaşa, east beyond Alanya, is roughly half as far as Antalya from Konaklı, but reaching it means going the other way and through the middle of Alanya. A pickup booked towards the wrong airport is the one error a driver cannot fix outside the door, so read the code on the ticket and give the flight number when you arrange the car. If the mall's main doors are still locked at an early hour, agree with reception the evening before where you will wait with the cases.

• Shop shutters and security doors keep their own hours; on a pre-dawn departure, confirm the night before which exit the hotel uses.
• Because the route does not cross Alanya, the time difference between an early and a midday pickup is smaller here than for hotels east of the town.
• Towels and sandals left at the beach are on the far side of the highway; collect them the day before rather than on the morning you leave.
