From a street in the middle of Oba's grid, the departure begins with the turn back onto the D400 and then the whole width of Alanya to cross westwards. That crossing is the variable part. At four or five in the morning it takes a few minutes; in the late afternoon the town's lights, buses and shop traffic can add a noticeable delay before the road opens out beyond the western suburbs. Departure days that fall on a summer weekend also put coaches and other transfers on the road at the same hours.

West of Konaklı the dual carriageway runs past Avsallar, Okurcalar, Manavgat and Serik, and at quiet hours the 131 km back to the terminal match the 110 minutes. The pickup is at the hotel entrance on Hacı Kadiroğlu Caddesi. With the beach a few hundred metres off across the coast road, plan the last morning so the final swim ends well before the car is due, and ask at reception where luggage can wait if the flight leaves late in the day.

• Write the street with the hotel name when booking the departure; in the dark the side streets of Obagöl look much alike, and the address takes the guesswork out.
• Keep passports and boarding passes out of the cases going into the hold, so the check at the terminal goes quickly after the long ride.
• An afternoon pickup needs extra time for crossing Alanya; the per-vehicle fare is settled at booking either way, so the only thing traffic changes is the clock.
