Leaving works in the hotel's favour. The car collects you on the inland street, goes back down through the roundabout and joins the D400 on the side that already heads towards Antalya, so there is no waiting to cut across oncoming traffic. From there it is the same 109 km in reverse, about 90 minutes: Avsallar and Okurcalar first, then the long run through Manavgat and past the Side and Belek junctions, with the airport turning coming up near the end.

Set the pickup by counting back from the flight: 90 minutes of road, then whatever time your airline wants you at the terminal. Before sunrise the D400 is nearly empty and that estimate has room in it. On a summer afternoon it is Manavgat, where the highway crosses the town with traffic lights at the main junctions, that stretches the drive, so a little extra margin then is sensible. The driver comes to the main entrance at the agreed hour; a changed flight just needs a message before the day.

• Give the main entrance on the inland street as the pickup point; the beach is on the far side of the D400 and a car cannot collect you there.
• A last swim on departure morning means getting back from the beach across the D400, so allow for it and be packed at the entrance by the agreed time.
• If the airline moves your flight, send the new time and the pickup is rearranged to suit it, instead of the car turning up at the old hour.
