Departure begins downhill. The car comes to the hotel entrance on the slope, rolls down the residential streets to the coast road and turns west, so the first thing on the route is not open highway but the length of Alanya town. Early in the morning that boulevard is clear and passes in minutes; from mid-morning, school runs, delivery vans and buses on the town section can add noticeable time before the car even reaches Konaklı and the open D400.

From there the 135 km and roughly 110 minutes follow the coast in reverse: Konaklı, Okurcalar, the crossing of Manavgat, then Side and Belek and the airport exit. Work the pickup time back from the flight with all of that in mind, plus the time your airline wants you at check-in. On a daytime departure the safer choice is to add margin for the Alanya town section, which is where this particular journey loses time; the rest of the D400 is usually steady.

• The pickup is at the hotel on the hill, not at the beach below; if you spend the last morning by the sea, take the shuttle back up in good time.
• Leaving before 7 in the morning keeps the drive through Alanya town short; later departures should allow a little extra for it.
• If your flight is changed, send us the new time and the pickup is moved to match, rather than the car arriving at the original hour.
