Leaving Tosmur, the first minutes run along the seafront boulevard back towards the centre, and in high season that street fills with promenade traffic from late afternoon. Morning and night departures pass it quickly. After the town crossing the car is on the D400 for the long westward run, 132 km and about 110 minutes in normal traffic. An afternoon pickup in August is the slot to give a little extra, because the delays come in Alanya itself rather than on the open road.

The car pulls up at the hotel entrance on Ahmet Tokuş Bulvarı and waits there while the bags are loaded. Be in the lobby at the agreed time with everything packed. If the hotel's checkout comes long before your flight, ask reception about leaving the cases and spend the gap on Keykubat, then let the car collect you later. Give the flight number when you book, so the pickup time is checked against your real departure.

• Flying out of Gazipaşa instead? Say so at booking: it lies east of Tosmur, a far shorter run than the drive to Antalya.
• Late-afternoon summer pickups meet the boulevard at its busiest; an earlier slot keeps the drive close to its usual time.
