Sokak the car has to cover the whole of Alanya from east to west, by Keykubat Bulvarı or by the seafront avenues, and in the centre traffic lights, buses and delivery vans decide the pace far more than the open highway beyond Konaklı ever does. Before dawn that stretch passes almost unnoticed, but a pickup between mid-morning and evening needs a margin for it. Once the last junctions of the town are behind you, the D400 runs back along the coast through Avsallar, Okurcalar and Manavgat towards the terminal.

Taken as a whole, the 131 km need about 110 minutes, longer than from the hotels on the western side of Alanya, so a pickup time that worked for friends staying in Konaklı or Avsallar will be too late here. Set the hour at booking from your flight and the check-in window your airline gives. 4. Sokak is a narrow street, so being at the entrance with the luggage ready at the agreed time lets the car load quickly without blocking it.

• Count back about 110 minutes of driving from the check-in deadline, then add a cushion for the centre of Alanya on a daytime departure.
• If someone in your party flies home from Gazipaşa instead, that is a separate, shorter booking; two cars can leave the same hotel on the same morning as long as both are arranged in advance.
• There is no need to carry bags out to Ahmet Tokuş Bulvarı or up to Keykubat Bulvarı: the car comes into 4. Sokak, and the hotel entrance is the pickup point.
