Good to know
The Side region is bigger than the town that gives it its name. Side itself stands on a small peninsula about 65 km east of Antalya Airport, with the Temple of Apollo at its tip and Roman streets behind it. Inland lies Manavgat, the district town: the market, the river, the everyday centre the coast is run from. Either side of the peninsula the resort strip runs for kilometres — Kumköy and Evrenseki west, Çolaklı and Gündoğdu beyond them, Titreyengöl and Sorgun in the pine belt east of the river, then Kızılot, Kızılağaç, Çenger and Denizyaka towards Alanya. Ruins and restaurants draw people into the old town; the strip is where they sleep.
Every transfer into the region leaves Antalya Airport on the D400, the coastal dual carriageway running east. It passes slightly inland of Aksu and Serik and the turnings for Belek before the exits for Side and Manavgat begin. Across the region the distance band is 52 to 100 km, which works out at roughly 50 to 85 minutes: Gündoğdu and Çolaklı at the near end, Side and Titreyengöl around the hour, Kızılağaç and Çenger at the far end. Nothing on the route climbs or twists. Summer afternoons add time near Serik and at the resort junctions, night arrivals run almost empty, and in winter the whole road is quiet.
Choosing within the region matters more than the map suggests. From Side, Kumköy and Evrenseki you reach the old town on foot or in a few minutes by car; Titreyengöl and Sorgun sit behind pine woods on quieter sand; Çolaklı, Gündoğdu, Kızılot and Kızılağaç are hotel-bound strips where the resort is the holiday. Families lean west and into the pines, evening people towards the ruins. For a transfer that means naming the resort as well as the hotel, because the same brands repeat along the coast, and booking the return at the same time: allow three hours at the airport in summer, plus 50 to 85 minutes of driving.
Other regions we serve
Side transfer — frequently asked questions
How far is Side from Antalya Airport?
Side itself is about 65 km east of the airport, roughly an hour by road. The wider region spans 52 to 100 km, from Gündoğdu at the near end to Kızılağaç and Çenger at the far end. Depending on your resort, plan on 50 to 85 minutes.
How long does the transfer from Antalya Airport to Side take?
In normal traffic about 60 minutes to Side and Titreyengöl, around 55 to Kumköy and Evrenseki, and up to 85 to the resorts towards Alanya. The route is flat dual carriageway the whole way. Summer afternoons around Serik are the main thing that adds time; night arrivals usually run quicker than the quoted figure.
Is there public transport from Antalya Airport to Side?
There is no direct scheduled service from the terminal to Side. Travellers using public transport go into Antalya first, then to the intercity bus station and east from there, which means two changes with luggage. A private transfer covers the same distance door to door in about an hour.
What is the difference between Side and Manavgat?
Side is the ancient town on the peninsula, with the ruins, the harbour and the beaches on either side of it. Manavgat is the district town a little inland on the river, with the market and ordinary town life. Hotels sold as Manavgat can be anywhere in the district, so check which strip yours is on before you book.
Which resort in the Side region should we choose?
If you want to walk to the ruins in the evening, stay in Side, Kumköy or Evrenseki. Titreyengöl and Sorgun, east of the river, are quieter and backed by pine woods. Çolaklı, Gündoğdu, Kızılot and Kızılağaç are lines of large all-inclusive hotels where the holiday happens mainly on the property and on the beach.
How early should we leave the hotel for the flight home?
Work backwards: three hours at the airport in summer, plus 50 to 85 minutes of driving depending on the resort, plus a margin for afternoon traffic around Serik. From Side that comes out at roughly four and a half hours before departure; from Kızılağaç or Çenger, closer to five.
