The route home begins on the headland. The car retraces the local streets past the Lonicera hotels, then runs a short way east beside the highway to a set of traffic lights, where it turns left onto the westbound carriageway; the side it arrived on only leads towards Alanya. From the lights the journey is the arrival in reverse: back over the Fuğla bridge, through Avsallar, İncekum and Okurcalar, past Kızılot and Kızılağaç to Manavgat, where the highway threads through the town, and across the plain of Serik and Aksu to the terminal, 106 km in about 90 minutes.

At the point the gate is easy to find even before dawn, because the street ends there; what tends to go wrong is the name. Old vouchers and some maps still show the former one, and the neighbour once traded under Gold Island names as well, so put the current name and the address, Gölcük Caddesi No: 27, on the return booking. Then subtract from the flight time: 90 minutes on the road, the time your airline asks for at check-in, and a margin for Manavgat on a summer morning, when the town's own traffic fills its junctions.

• With the street ending at the hotel, the gate is the only sensible place for the car to wait; be there with the luggage at the agreed time rather than down at the cove.
• The short run east to the lights before the car turns for Antalya adds minutes, not money: the price per vehicle was fixed when you booked.
• An evening flight leaves the last day for the cove and the aquapark; arrange with the hotel where the bags can wait after checkout, and set the pickup from the flight time rather than from checkout.
