Leaving Theodora begins away from the beach: the car collects you at the hotel's own door, works through the few hundred metres of side streets to the D400 and turns west. From there the 94 km run back over the Alara, through Manavgat's series of traffic lights and across the flat farmland to Aksu, about 80 minutes when nothing holds it up. Manavgat is the variable. Before dawn its junctions are empty; from mid-morning in summer they gather queues, and that is where any time lost on the way to Antalya is lost.

Because Theodora shares restaurants and beach with the neighbouring Justiniano hotels, the last morning tends to happen somewhere else in the group: breakfast in one building, a swim off the shared shore, the cases still upstairs in Theodora. Plan the pickup around where the luggage is, not where you happen to be, and allow time to walk back, collect everything and settle the bill. If the ticket says GZP rather than AYT, the flight leaves from Gazipaşa–Alanya to the east, which is a different booking in the opposite direction.

• Bring the luggage down to the Theodora lobby before the final swim, so that when the car pulls up nobody has to fetch bags from a room upstairs.
