The departure starts with a short run back from the seaward streets to the boulevard, and then the car is already pointing west, because the hotel sits on the side of town that faces Antalya. The harbour and the busy middle of Alanya never come into it. Beyond the last hotels the road runs through Konaklı and Avsallar towards Manavgat, whose junctions and traffic lights are a regular brake on the 124 km. For the whole journey to the terminal, plan on about 105 minutes.

Because the beach is right in front, a late flight leaves a whole last morning by the water. The practical question is where the cases spend those hours: before checkout, ask reception whether luggage can be stored and a shower used later, then set the pickup for when you will really be dressed and ready. An early flight works the other way: 105 minutes of road plus the airline's check-in window means a car in the dark, and the lobby is the place to wait for it.

• Give the street, Hasan Şenli Sokak, as well as the hotel name; at night this end of town shows several signs that begin with Kleopatra.
• Swim on the last morning if you like, but move passports and boarding passes into the hand luggage before the suitcases go into storage.
• Gazipaşa (GZP) also serves Alanya, so check the code on the ticket; a flight from there needs a different booking from this Antalya one.
