Antalya Airport to Ulaş Beach transfer
Ulaş is a public beach with a picnic ground beside the D400, about 5 km west of Alanya's centre — on the Antalya side of the town, not beyond it. The picnic ground was laid out on the rocky strip between the highway and the sea, and the beach sits below it, reached by stairs from road level. The sand down there is fine and golden, and it carries on under the water, so you wade in over sand rather than rock. Toilets and a snack kiosk are close by, and sunbeds and umbrellas can be hired on the beach.
From Antalya Airport it is 120 km, about an hour and 40 minutes, and the car never has to drive into Alanya. The D400 runs east past Serik, Manavgat, Okurcalar and Konaklı, and Ulaş comes up about 6 km after Konaklı. Here the two carriageways part company: the eastbound lanes stay in the open along the shore, while the westbound lanes go through a tunnel a little inland. Arriving from the airport, the car park is therefore on your own kerb, on the sea side, with no lanes to cross.
Visiting Ulaş Beach
The stairs are the one real piece of work in a visit here. Everything — towels, a cool box, the children — goes down them from the picnic ground and has to come back up the same way, so it pays to carry the lot in one trip. Below, a short strip of fine sand meets water that stays sandy underfoot as it deepens, which makes the place easy for small children and for anyone who dislikes a stony entry. Sunbeds and umbrellas are for hire, and the toilets and the kiosk are a short walk away.
Up at road level, the picnic ground is the other half of Ulaş. It sits on the rocks right beside the highway, so the traffic is never out of earshot, but it looks straight down onto the water, and between swims it is where a group spreads out a meal instead of eating off the sand. A meal above, a swim below: that combination is what draws families here in summer.
There is no fixed length to a visit; what your starting point decides is how to use the car. From central Alanya the beach is under 10 km by road in either direction, so a drop-off and a separate pickup later are as easy as having the car wait. From Side it is about 60 km each way and from Belek nearly 100, and a beach alone does not justify that much road: make Ulaş the first or last stop of an Alanya day — the castle, the harbour, Dim Cave — and keep the same car throughout.
- Whatever goes down the stairs has to come back up them, so pack for a single trip in each direction.
- The seabed is sand, so bare feet are fine in the water and the water shoes can stay in the bag.
- Sunbeds and umbrellas are hired on the beach itself, which saves carrying shade down the stairs.
