On the way out the car leaves by the same short lane and rejoins the D400 heading east, because the divided highway allows no left turn here. Less than a kilometre on there is a turning point, and the car swings round and passes the hotel again, now westbound, before settling into the long run back past Okurcalar and Manavgat. At four in the morning that loop is a minute's work; in the middle of a summer day, with buses stopping along the Avsallar strip, it can take a little longer.

The pickup is at the main entrance off the side lane, which is calmer than standing at the roadside itself. On a headland with sea-view rooms spread across the site, the walk from the far blocks to reception takes a few minutes with luggage, so be downstairs before the agreed time rather than at it. If you are leaving with more people than you arrived with, say, relatives who joined you for the second week, tell us when you book so that the right size of car comes.

• From your flight time, subtract the airline's check-in window and roughly 85 minutes of road plus a little for the turn east; that is your pickup hour.
• Name the hotel exactly on the return booking: Utopia Resort & Residence, not Beach Club, since the two gates are a short drive apart on the same road.
