On the way out, the lane takes the car back up to the D400, a little under a kilometre in all, and because the highway is divided here the car turns round at the junction itself to point west towards Antalya. That makes the departure simpler than the arrival, with no detour towards Alanya first. Allow a few extra minutes in July and August, though, when the D400 through Konaklı is at its busiest.

Then comes the long run west: Avsallar, Okurcalar, then the stretch around Manavgat, which is the part most likely to slow down after mid-morning, and finally the open road across the Serik plain to the terminal. The full 116 km take about 95 minutes on a normal day. Night pickups for early charter flights are the smoothest of all, and the driver will be waiting at the hotel at the agreed time, so there is no need to phone ahead.

• A beach morning before an afternoon flight is easy to fit in here, but agree on a shower or changing room with reception, because the car arrives at the booked hour.
