Monte Carlo Hotel is in Oba, the district just east of Alanya's centre, at 10. Sokak No 4 in Göl Mahallesi. It stands on the inland side of the coast road: its beach lies about 90 metres away on the sea side and is reached through an underpass outside the hotel grounds, so nobody has to cross the traffic on foot. Keykubat Beach, the long sand that runs east from the castle rock, is roughly half a kilometre off, and Alanya's harbour and old streets are a short taxi ride back to the west.

The transfer is 131 km from Antalya Airport and takes around 110 minutes. A driver stands in the arrivals hall with your name on a sign, and from there the D400 does all the work: east past Serik and Manavgat, along the coast villages beyond, and then right through Alanya, where it becomes a busy town road with traffic lights and roundabouts. Oba lies past the centre, so the car crosses the whole town before turning inland into Göl Mahallesi for the last few streets. At rush hour that crossing of Alanya is the slowest part of the trip.

Going back to Antalya means crossing Alanya again, this time westbound, before the coast road opens up past Konaklı and Avsallar. The crossing of the town is the one real variable on this trip: a few minutes before dawn, considerably longer between nine and noon or in the evening rush, when buses and delivery traffic fill the main road. Beyond the town the 131 km run as they did on arrival, and about 110 minutes is a fair estimate on a normal day.

The pickup is on the hotel side of the coast road, at the entrance on 10. Sokak, not on the beach side; a car waiting by the underpass would be on the wrong side of the traffic. Families who spend the last morning on the beach should come back through the underpass with time to shower, change and hand in the keys before the car arrives, because the stop at the door is meant to be brief. If your flight leaves from Gazipaşa instead, that is a separate, shorter booking heading east.

  • Plan backwards from the departure: 110 minutes for the drive, then the check-in time your airline sets, and on summer weekends a margin for the crossing of Alanya.
  • Give the luggage count with the booking, beach gear included, so the vehicle that comes has room for all of it.
  • Whatever the traffic does in the town, the vehicle fare agreed at booking stays exactly as it was.
