Being beside the eastbound lanes, which made the arrival so simple, works the other way when you leave. Antalya is to the west and the D400 here is a divided road, so the car pulls out of the side street heading towards Alanya and has to reach a junction where it can turn back before the airport run proper begins. Before dawn that costs a couple of minutes at most; it is worth knowing only so that nobody in the back seat is alarmed when the car first sets off in the wrong direction.

From there it is 113 km and roughly 95 minutes back the way you came: Türkler, Avsallar, İncekum and Okurcalar along the coast, then the slower town section through Manavgat, then the open road past Serik and Aksu to the airport turning. A last swim from the pier fits before a midday pickup, but leave time to rinse off the salt and settle the bill; the car arrives at the agreed hour, and whatever is still to be done at reception comes out of the margin meant for the check-in queues.

• Check out before the car is due and bring the luggage to the main entrance on Yelken Sokak; the driver comes to the road side of the hotel, not to the beach.
• With 95 minutes of driving, a seven o'clock flight and the usual check-in allowance mean a car at around half past two in the morning.
• If a tour operator's coach transfer was in your package and you have switched to a private car, tell reception, so that nobody comes to call you for the coach.
