Leaving is the easy direction. From the hotel's corner the car covers the last few metres of Karaçaltı Caddesi and turns right onto the westbound D400, already pointed at Antalya, so the crossing that the arrival needed is not repeated. A minute later Avsallar's centre is behind you. Before sunrise the coastal section as far as Manavgat usually flows freely, while late-morning departures in July and August meet excursion coaches turning in and out of hotel gates all along it.

The distance and time are those of the arrival, 106 km and about 90 minutes, but the hour that matters is the one you fix at booking. Count back from the moment your airline wants you at the desk, add the drive, and give that pickup time both to us and to reception. A week of slides and pool tends to send families home with damp swimwear and a bag or two more than they came with, so pack the night before, leave dry clothes out for the flight, and tell us if the case count has grown, because the vehicle is chosen by luggage as well as by seats.

• Ask reception the evening before which entrance the transfer cars use, and be there with the bags at the agreed time.
