This is a town, which means the departure is a town departure. There is no gatehouse to wait in and no forecourt for the car to stand on, so the pickup happens on a Konaklı street with whatever else is using it at that hour. On market morning that matters: the stalls and the delivery vans take the streets nearest the centre from early on, and a car cannot simply sit at the kerb while somebody upstairs finishes packing. On any other morning the same street is empty and the whole business takes two minutes.

For the road itself, notice which way you are facing. Alanya lies east of Konaklı, so the airport run turns its back on the town and none of its traffic ever touches you: the ninety-five minutes are all D400, through Avsallar and Okurcalar and on past Manavgat. The catch is the length of it. A seven o'clock flight wants the car outside at half past three, and at that hour Konaklı is asleep, including whoever would normally be unlocking the front door. Arrange that with the desk a day or two ahead, not on the final night.

• On the weekly market morning ask for the pickup a few minutes earlier and agree a corner the car can actually reach, because the streets nearest the centre fill with stalls and delivery vans.
• There is no gate here to use as a landmark, so a street name, a number and a phone contact do the work that a hotel name cannot.
• For a departure in the small hours, check the night before that somebody will be at the desk: a locked lobby and a loaded luggage trolley is a poor way to start ninety-five minutes.
