The airport is at the far end of a long road from here, so the departure day starts earlier than families often expect. Count back from check-in: 95 minutes of driving for 114 km, a margin for traffic around Manavgat, and the time the airline asks for at the terminal. For a midday flight that puts the pickup in the early morning; for a dawn flight, the middle of the night, and it is worth agreeing with the children the evening before what goes in hand luggage so nothing has to be unpacked at the door.

Leaving the hotel, the car joins the westbound D400, which retraces the coast through Avsallar and Okurcalar before the Manavgat stretch. Before sunrise the road is mostly empty and lorries are the main company; later in the morning, transfer coaches collecting at every hotel along this coast slow the first half hour. Sleeping children can usually stay asleep from the lobby to the car if the seats are already fitted, which is one reason to confirm them again for the return leg.
