Leaving Sun Club Side, the first few minutes are the ones that vary. Kiremithane Sokak and the lanes around it fill up from mid-morning with beachgoers, delivery vans and rental cars looking for parking, and a car can lose time just getting back to the main Side road; in the small hours the same streets are empty. After the D400 junction the route is the arrival in reverse, west past Serik, Belek and Aksu, and the 65 km normally take around 60 minutes outside the July and August peaks.

Because the hotel sits among blocks of two-storey buildings rather than behind a single grand gate, the driver will look for the reception entrance on Kiremithane Sokak, and it helps to be waiting there with the bags at the agreed minute. If you are leaving on a night flight after a last swim, ask reception about a room or a shower for late checkout before you book the time, then let us know the hour you settle on.

• Choose the pickup time when you book by counting back from departure: 60 minutes of driving, plus the check-in margin your airline sets, around three hours for international flights in the busy months.
