At 59 km, about 55 minutes, Artside is one of the nearer hotels of the Side coast to the airport, which buys a little time on the departure morning compared with Side town or Sorgun. The car leaves by the same side streets, joins Turizm Caddesi and is back on the D400 after about three kilometres, so very little of the journey is spent on resort roads. Westbound, the highway runs through Gündoğdu, Serik and Aksu, and its traffic lights are where the minutes go, especially on summer afternoons when coaches shuttle between the resorts and the terminal.

Departure day here often starts with a last swim, and the beach is a walk away rather than under the balcony. Build the walk back, a shower and the final packing into the morning before the pickup hour, and agree that hour when you book by counting back from the flight. Families should ask for the right child seats on this leg as well as on arrival; they are fitted before the car sets out. If the resort road's shops have added a bag or two, it is better mentioned in advance than discovered at the gate.

• Ask for the pickup at the hotel entrance on 18. Sokak; Turizm Caddesi is the through road and no place for a car to stand while bags are loaded.
• For an early flight the D400 is close to empty; for a mid-afternoon departure in July or August, allow extra for the lights at Serik and Aksu.
• A larger party leaving with more luggage than it brought should say so in the booking, so that a roomier vehicle is the one that turns up.
