On the way out, the tourism-zone streets come first: a few short turns up through Kızılağaç and the 700 metres along the edge of the village to the D400, then west. The first real test is Manavgat, about a quarter of an hour away, where the highway passes through the town with traffic lights and the river crossing; before seven it is quick, by mid-morning it can be slow. Beyond the town the road runs on past the Side turning, Serik and Aksu, and the 70 minutes for the 80 km is a fair figure on an ordinary day.

In the dark, the stretch of shore around the hotel is easy to misread from a car, because the hotel sits between two neighbours, the large World of Sunrise complex and Club Nena, and at that hour one lit entrance looks much like the next. Set the pickup hour when you book, counting back from your airline's check-in time, and allow a little extra for Manavgat if your departure falls on a busy summer changeover day.
