Couples at an adults-only hotel often take late afternoon or evening flights home and want the whole last day by the sea, and the road allows it. From the gate it is only a little over 2 km of village streets back to the D400, and the 59 km to the terminal are about 55 minutes of driving, so a long final morning is realistic. Agree the pickup hour when you book, counting back from the departure time and the check-in window your airline asks for, and leave the room early enough to shower after the last swim.

Westbound the order of the drive is reversed: the side streets and the two roundabouts first, then Cumhuriyet Bulvarı and the run north through Evrenseki to the junction, where the car swings onto the D400 towards Serik and Aksu. Before dawn this takes very little time. On summer afternoons the coaches taking whole hotels to their flights crowd the same lanes, and the traffic lights at Serik and Aksu are where the minutes are lost. A late-evening flight is the easiest to plan from here, because the D400 has usually quietened by the time the car sets off.

• Ask for the pickup at the street entrance; the hotel faces the promenade on its beach side, and that is no place for a car to wait.
• Shopping from Side or Manavgat tends to add a bag by the end of a stay; mention it when you book, so the boot is sized for what you actually carry.
• For a departure in the small hours, let reception know the evening before that a car is coming, so the staff on the gate expect it.
