Going home, the car comes back to the entrance on Erhan Demir Bulvarı, works its way out of Çolaklı to the D400 and turns west. Çolaklı lies on the airport side of Side, so for the same flight a pickup here can be booked a little later than one in Side town or Kumköy. Early in the morning the village streets are empty and the highway is reached within minutes; at the midday changeover, transfer coaches from the many hotels around use the same junction and can hold the car up for a while.

From the junction it is the arrival road in reverse: through Gündoğdu, past Serik and Aksu, 57 km in about 55 minutes to the departures level. An adults-only hotel usually means light, quick departures, but the beach is a shuttle ride away, so if you want a last swim on the final morning, check the shuttle timetable the evening before and leave a clear margin between the last run back from the beach and the hour the car arrives. Wet swimwear packed in a separate bag keeps the suitcases dry for the flight.

• To choose the hour, take your departure time, subtract the check-in window your airline recommends — around three hours is common on international summer flights — and then subtract the 55-minute drive.
• If reception books the return car for you, ask them to give both the full name, Diamond Elite Hotel & Spa, and the street, Erhan Demir Bulvarı, since a driver sent simply to 'Diamond' in Çolaklı could end up at the group's other hotels to the west.
• Because the fare is fixed for the car rather than counted by the clock, a queue of coaches at the Çolaklı junction adds minutes but nothing to the bill.
