The way out reverses the side road first: from Fesleğenli Caddesi the car runs back up the straight stretch to the D400 at Gündoğdu, a few kilometres through fields that are almost deserted before sunrise. At the highway it turns west, and from there it is the same road as the arrival, across the Köprüçay, through Serik and past Aksu towards the terminals. Sitting on the western edge of the Side coast pays off now: there is no town to clear first, and the 55 km take about 50 minutes on an ordinary morning.

That shorter run lets a Gündoğdu pickup be set a little later than one from Side for the same flight, though the check-in end at the airport does not shrink with it. On a changeover morning several hotels along this road empty out together and coaches stop at gate after gate, so a car that arrives on the hour spares you the circuit of collections. Name the hotel as Side Star Resort, Fesleğenli Caddesi, rather than just the brand, since the other three Side Star hotels are in Side, and wait at reception with the cases already counted.

• Fifty minutes of road plus your airline's check-in window gives the pickup hour; fix it when you book, not on the last evening.
• Give the number of suitcases as well as passengers for the return, so the vehicle size matches what is actually leaving Gündoğdu.
• A tractor on the Gündoğdu road or a queue at the airport kerb changes the clock, not the fare, which is agreed per vehicle in advance.
