Leaving is the easier direction here. The hotel already sits on the westbound side of the D400, so the car comes out of the residential lane and joins the traffic towards Antalya without crossing anything. From there it is a straight run back through Kızılot and Kızılağaç, over the Manavgat river and past the town, then on past Side, Serik and Aksu. The whole 89 km take about 75 minutes, and the part most likely to stretch is the Manavgat section in mid-morning, when town traffic feeds onto the highway at its junctions.

Departure mornings at a second-line hotel carry one extra step: anything left at the beach — towels, sandals, a child's bucket — is on the other side of the highway, so do the final round of the sunbeds the evening before rather than in the half hour before the car. Settle the bill at reception early as well, since several families tend to leave at the same hour. The pickup time is fixed when you book, counted back from your flight, and the car comes to the main entrance off the residential lane, not to the beach side.

• Add 75 minutes of driving to your airline's check-in window and set the pickup from that sum, with a little slack for Manavgat in the morning.
• If your flight leaves late in the day, ask reception where bags can be stored after checkout, so the last afternoon can still be spent across the road at the beach.
• Name the hotel in full in the booking: several resorts on this part of the D400 have Beach in their names, and Casa Fora Beach Resort is only a few hundred metres to the east.
