The way out begins in the lanes of Yalı and climbs north on the Side road to the D400, and in summer that road is busiest from late morning, when coaches, delivery vans and day-trippers all head the same way. A pre-dawn pickup avoids it altogether. Once on the highway the car turns west through Serik and Aksu and keeps to the dual carriageway to the terminal: 65 km in all, usually about 60 minutes when the road is clear.

The car pulls up on the landward side, at the entrance in 608. Sokak, at the hour agreed when you booked. Neighbouring hotels in Yalı share similar narrow lanes, so a driver arriving in the dark relies on the exact address on the booking. If you are leaving after a late-night flight change, or your luggage has grown since arrival, a short message beforehand lets us adjust the time or send a larger vehicle.

• Count back from the flight: around 60 minutes on the road plus the check-in time your airline asks for, which for international summer flights is often three hours.
• Keep 608. Sokak No 4/A on the departure request as well; in the dark, one lit entrance in Yalı looks much like the next.
