Leaving Kumköy, the first minutes are spent in town rather than on the highway. The car takes the short lane back to Süleyman Demirel Bulvarı, heads inland along Sahil Caddesi and stops at the same Kumköy lights to join the D400 heading west. In high summer that junction carries the coaches of most hotels in the quarter, and in the late morning their departures overlap with the room change-over, so the lights can take more than one cycle to clear. Before dawn the run from the seafront up to the highway takes hardly any time at all.

From the junction the 64 km back to the terminal follow the arrival route in reverse, past Çolaklı, Gündoğdu, Serik and Aksu, and the 60 minutes hold when the road is clear. The driver pulls up at the hotel gate at the agreed time, so it helps to have the luggage down in the lobby a few minutes before the agreed time. A family travelling with pushchairs and several cases should mention them when booking, since the vehicle is chosen by the amount of luggage as well as by the number of passengers.

• Check that the departure booking reads Club Melas Privé and not just Melas: a pickup filed under the wrong Melas would send the car to another hotel in Kumköy.
• Checkout and pickup are two separate times; if the room must be vacated hours before the car comes, ask reception where the cases can wait and spend the gap on the promenade.
• For an evening flight after a last afternoon in Side, walk back from the old town along the coast in good time and keep the pickup at the hotel, where the luggage already is.
