On departure the car is back on the D400 within moments of leaving the hotel road, heading west. From Kızılot the first part is the run of village junctions, Kızılağaç's lights among them, followed by the Manavgat river crossing and the loop round the south of the town, which is the slowest section on a weekday morning. Beyond Manavgat the dual carriageway continues past the Side junction, Serik and Aksu. Before dawn the whole road is clear and the 70 minutes for the 82 km leave room to spare; in high summer from mid-morning, the Manavgat section can add a little.

With 70 minutes of road ahead, a dawn flight out of Kızılot usually means a pickup in the middle of the night. Pack the beach things the evening before, keep passports and phones in the bag you travel with, and ask reception whether a breakfast box can be prepared if you leave before the restaurant opens. If friends are staying at Sea World, a single car can collect from both hotels on the way; give both names and say which comes first.

• Set the pickup from the flight time backwards: the check-in window, then 70 minutes of driving, then a cushion for the Manavgat stretch on a busy summer day.
• Put the full Seaden Sea Planet name and the Kızılot address on the return booking too, since Sea World stands only a couple of kilometres away beside the same highway.
• Children's seats have to be requested for the departure leg as well; they go into the car before it sets off for your hotel.
