Going home, the car leaves the residential lanes of Selimiye, rejoins the town road and climbs to the D400 junction north of Side before turning west. From there the 66 km run passes Serik and Aksu, and in normal traffic the 60 minutes hold. Around midday the town road fills with coaches heading for the ruins and the car parks below the walls; before dawn it is clear, and an early flight rarely loses time anywhere before the airport approach.

Since the hotel is not on the shore, the last morning can be planned without a final trip to the beach: breakfast, checkout and the bags at the door. If the last day is spent on the sand or in the old town instead, decide at booking whether the car takes you from the hotel with the luggage or from somewhere else; with the suitcases still at reception, the hotel is usually simpler. In the dark these residential lanes look alike, so the confirmation should carry the hotel name exactly as printed on the voucher.

• A pickup hour counted backwards from the flight works best: the airline's check-in window, then 60 minutes of road, then a little slack for the lanes around the hotel.
• Tell us if the party has changed since arrival, especially extra suitcases or a pushchair, so that the vehicle sent has room for everything.
• If the operator moves your stay to a different hotel, send us the new name and address before the return day so the car goes to the right door.
