On departure day the car meets you at the hotel on the Side–Kumköy road and heads back through Kumköy, a few kilometres of local road before the D400. Before dawn that stretch is quiet; from late morning in summer it fills with coaches, hire cars and day-trippers going in and out of the old town, so a midday pickup deserves a little extra margin. Then the highway leads west past Evrenseki, Çolaklı, Serik and Aksu, and the 64 km to the terminal take about 60 minutes in normal traffic.

Since the hotel is not on the sand, the last morning is easier to organise than at a beachfront resort: if you skip a final swim there is no shuttle to wait for, and the luggage only travels from the room to the entrance. If you do want one more hour by the sea, the shuttle runs to a timetable, so plan backwards from its return trip. Tell us the number of suitcases, plus anything bought in the old town's shops, when you book, and a vehicle with the right boot space is sent.

• Ask for a pickup worked out from the flight, not from checkout: 60 minutes of driving, the airline's check-in window and a cushion for summer traffic around Side.
• Guests who spend the last evening in the old town sometimes book a taxi back that night; the airport pickup is a separate booking with its own time, so keep both on your list.
• Prices are set per vehicle in advance, and summer queues on the Kumköy roads cannot raise them.
