Departure day starts inside the complex. Because the hotel is spread over several buildings, the walk from an outer block to reception with suitcases can take longer than you expect, so aim to be at the entrance, already checked out, at the pickup time rather than leaving your room then. Leaving the gate, the car retraces the lane to the roundabout and then heads north through Sorgun and the southern edge of Manavgat to join the D400. Before dawn that stretch is empty; later in the day it is ordinary town driving, with junctions to wait at.

On the D400 the car heads west, past the Side turn-off, Serik and the Belek junctions, and the return over the same 71 km takes about 65 minutes, as on arrival. Antalya Airport lies on the eastern side of the city, so the car turns off for the terminals before Antalya's own traffic begins. International and domestic flights leave from separate terminals, and the flight number in your booking tells the driver which departures entrance to head for. For an international flight in July or August, leaving the hotel about three and a half hours before take-off covers the road and the queues at check-in and security.

• Add the flight number to the return booking: it decides which terminal the car heads for, and if the airline moves the departure, the pickup can move with it.
• The beach is a few minutes' walk from the buildings, so a last swim on departure morning should end well before the pickup time, leaving room to change and fetch the cases.
• When the return confirmation arrives, check that it names Asteria Collection Side at Titreyengöl, not just Asteria: the group's two other Side hotels are across the Manavgat river in Kızılağaç.
