Leaving Ilıca, the car first unwinds those residential lanes, back north for about 1.3 km to the D400, where it joins the westbound traffic. Before dawn that takes a few minutes; late in the morning, when coaches are collecting from the Kumköy hotels, it can take noticeably longer. From the highway on it is the 61 km you arrived by, west through Gündoğdu, Serik and Aksu, and on a clear road the 55 minutes hold.

Because the hotel sits back from the shore, a last morning often splits the party: some go through the underpass for a final swim while the others pack. That works as long as everyone knows the car comes to the hotel entrance on 35. Sokak at the agreed hour, not down to the beach. Set that hour when you book, counting back from the flight: the time your airline wants you at the terminal, the drive, and a margin for the Ilıca lanes. If the flight time changes, send the new one and the pickup moves with it.

• Put Villa Side Residence and 35. Sokak on the departure booking as well, so nobody confuses it with a Residence hotel in Lara or Kemer.
• Settle the bill the evening before; the desk is busiest at checkout time, and the driver waits at the entrance, not at reception.
