On the way back the first obstacle is Manavgat itself. Before six in the morning the bridge and the town's traffic lights pass in a few minutes; from mid-morning, with buses, lorries and market traffic all funnelling over the river at the same point, the town can take noticeably longer than it did on the way in. That is why a pickup from Kızılağaç for a midday flight is often set earlier than people expect for the distance, and why the margin belongs at the Manavgat end of the journey rather than at the terminal.

Past Manavgat the D400 is open dual carriageway past the Side exit, Serik and Aksu, and on a quiet road the 80 km back take the same 70 minutes as the arrival. The car comes to the main entrance on the grounds' side of the road, not to the beach, so bags belong in the lobby on the last morning rather than beside the sunbeds. Give us the flight time when you book; the hour the car arrives is worked out from it instead of from a guess, and a change of flight should reach us directly.

• Say Sunmelia, Kızılağaç, when you book the return; a driver sent to Seamelia would be waiting in Evrenseki, on the far side of Side.
• Weekday mornings are when the Manavgat stretch is slowest, so leave the spare minutes there rather than hoping to make them up on the open highway.
• Children's seats for the return are fitted before the car leaves, so ask for them when you book the departure rather than at the hotel door.
