Leaving, the driver has two ways up to the D400 and chooses between them on the day. One is the way you came, west along Adnan Menderes Bulvarı and then north through Side's boulevards to the Side junction; the other runs east along the Sorgun road past the neighbouring hotels and joins the highway on the Manavgat side. For their first few kilometres both are town streets with roundabouts, empty before dawn and slower once the buses, supply vans and day-trippers are moving, and either way the 69 km to the terminal stay close to the hour quoted.

Sorgun is a row of large hotels set side by side, and in the dark one lit gateway on Adnan Menderes Bulvarı resembles the next, with Sueno to the west and Robinson to the south-east. The booking should therefore carry the hotel's full name and the number 26/A, so that the car turns into the right lane first time. Give the flight number and departure time as well as the hour you want collecting, because the pickup is worked back from the flight and agreed at booking, and a time already checked against the timetable is one less thing to settle at reception on the last evening.

• In July and August the boulevards between the hotel and the D400 also carry tour coaches heading for Side from mid-morning, so a midday pickup deserves a margin that a dawn one does not.
• Leave a last shopping trip to the Sorgun Mall for the evening before; on the morning itself the car comes at the agreed time to the hotel, not to the shops across the road.
• Buy anything bulky, a carpet from Manavgat or boxes of Turkish delight, before the last day and add it to the luggage count you give at booking, since the car is chosen for what you declare.
