Leaving is the easy direction from here. With the hotel on the inland side of the D400, the car pulls out onto the westbound carriageway, the one that leads to Antalya, and has nothing to cross. The 89 km back are the same road in reverse: Kızılot and Kızılağaç, the bridge at Manavgat, then the long straight run past Serik, about 75 minutes in all. Manavgat's junctions are where the time can stretch on a busy morning, and the outskirts of Antalya near the end are the other place to expect it.

Being the far end of the Side coast as seen from the airport, this is a hotel where the pickup comes earlier than guests in Side itself expect, so plan the last morning around it. A beach visit means getting to the far side of the D400 and back again with wet things, which takes longer than a swim at a hotel standing on the sand. Have the cases at reception before the agreed time, so that loading at the entrance takes only a few minutes.

• Set the pickup by adding 75 minutes of driving to the check-in time your airline asks for, then a margin for the lights at Manavgat.
• Put the flight number in the booking, so that an airline schedule change can move the pickup with it.
• Travelling with small children, ask for child seats in the return booking as well; they are fitted before the car reaches the hotel.
