The way out is the city in reverse, and here the hour of the pickup matters more than it does on the resort strips. Before dawn the Şirinyalı side streets and the long run east on Bülent Ecevit Bulvarı are clear, and the 17 km fit the 25 minutes quoted. On a weekday morning the same road carries Antalya's own traffic, commuters, school runs and delivery vans, and the junctions towards Kardeş Kentler Caddesi slow down; a pickup in the working rush deserves more margin than one in the holiday hours.

The car collects from the hotel entrance, and in city traffic it pays to be at reception with the bags at the agreed time. Book the departure as Falcon Hotel, Şirinyalı, 1540 Sokak No 12. A separate hotel called Falcon 1511 is listed in the same Muratpaşa district, and the street and number are what keep the two apart.

• If the pickup falls in the weekday morning rush, ask for it a little earlier than the 25 minutes alone would suggest.
• Spending the last afternoon in Kaleiçi with the bags left at the hotel? Give the pickup address at booking; a change made on the day is harder to arrange.
