The departure pickup is at the hotel's own entrance on Deniz Caddesi, and with Viking Nona Beach a few steps away, waiting outside the wrong door in the dark is easier than it sounds; stay in your own lobby and the driver will come in for you. At night and before dawn the street is clear, and the car regains the D400 quickly; from late afternoon the shore fills with people heading for the marina, and getting away takes a little longer.

The 62 km north to the terminal follow the coast past Göynük and Beldibi, then the tunnels and the Konyaaltı front, and roughly 55 minutes is the usual time. What changes is the Antalya end, where the ring road and the airport approach clog on summer Saturdays and weekday mornings. The pickup hour is agreed at booking, counted back from your flight, so the hotel's checkout time does not have to decide when you set off.

• Give the number of suitcases and any pushchair when you book, so a vehicle of the right size comes to the seafront street.
