Sitting in the northern part of the town, the hotel is only a short way down the boulevard from the highway, which trims the slowest part of any departure from Kemer. The car turns north out of the gate and is on the D400 within a few minutes, without going through the centre. The highway then climbs back past Göynük and Beldibi and through the tunnels, and the time that can stretch is in Antalya, on the ring roads at commuter hours. Outside those hours and the summer peaks, 55 minutes covers the 60 km comfortably.

Names are worth a second thought at five in the morning. The paperwork a driver carries uses the hotel's current name, while a guest who booked through an older package may only know the earlier one, and DoubleTree, a few hundred metres down the boulevard, is close enough to be confused with it in the dark. Put Gravel Select Hotel and the number 34 in the booking, and if your documents show something different, tell us when you arrange the car. Ask reception the evening before about an early breakfast if the pickup comes before the restaurant opens.

• Count back from the departure time: 55 minutes of road, a cushion for Antalya's ring roads if you leave in a busy hour, and the check-in window your airline gives.
• If the beach towels belong to the hotel, hand them back the night before so the morning starts with packing, not with a trip to the towel desk.
• The price is per vehicle and agreed in advance, so the number of passengers or a slow ring road on the day does not change it.
