From Alanya the waterfall is seldom a day out on its own. The Manavgat River comes down from the Taurus foothills and slides over a wide, low rock shelf, more a long white curtain than a high drop, with shade trees, tea tables and walkways along the banks, and an hour there is enough for most visitors. The car leaves Alanya westward on the D400 with the castle rock falling behind, runs through Konaklı, and crosses the pine-covered headland around Avsallar and İncekum. After that the land drops to a flat coastal strip: the hotel gates of Okurcalar, then Kızılot, with fields and greenhouses inland most of the way to Manavgat. There the car skips the centre, turning north up the river valley for a few kilometres to the waterfall park. That is a fair drive for a short visit, so think the day through when booking. - Set off soon after breakfast: with close to an hour on the road, a later start brings you to the falls in the midday heat and alongside the coach groups.

- Side's ruins are cooler and quieter towards evening, which makes them a better last stop before the drive back to Alanya than a first one.
- Heading west the sea is on the left, so take that side of the car on the way out and the right-hand side if you ride back to Alanya.
