Alanya to Mahmutlar private transfer

Twelve kilometres east and the holiday stops being a holiday. Mahmutlar is where people go to look at apartments, to visit the friend who bought one, to collect keys from an agent, or to keep a hotel room in Alanya and a rented flat in Mahmutlar inside the same fortnight. It is also an arrival run: a coach from Ankara or Istanbul sets you down at Alanya's bus station with luggage for a month, and Mahmutlar is another twelve kilometres beyond it. The town's own market day pulls people out of the centre too, and it is not Alanya's market.

The D400 east, twelve kilometres, about 20 minutes. The car comes out from under the castle rock, past the marina and the eastern beaches, and crosses the Dim river at Tosmur where the valley opens inland toward the mountains. Then Kestel, and from there the range presses so close to the water that the town ahead has to fit on a shelf a few hundred metres wide. It is short but rarely quick: the centre is the bottleneck in the evening, and the main street through Mahmutlar is one long line of crossings and parked cars. At midnight it is fifteen minutes of open road.

• The sea side and the mountain side of the D400 are two different towns for a driver, so say which side of the highway the block stands on.
• A viewing appointment is the fixed point of the day: leave Alanya earlier than twenty minutes suggests if it falls in the evening rush.
• Starting from Alanya's bus station, name a door rather than the terminal — the building has more than one way in.
• Keep the car if you are seeing more than one block, because the way out of a Mahmutlar side street is harder to arrange than the way in.
