Departure from Çamyuva begins with the slow part of the route: back along Turizm Bulvarı, up through the village to the D400 junction, then north past Kiriş and around Kemer. Once the car is on the open highway the run up to Göynük and Beldibi is quick, the cliff tunnels follow, and Antalya's traffic starts at Konyaaltı. The 65 minutes quoted for the 70 km hold when the city is quiet, so a weekday morning pickup deserves extra margin for the ring road rather than for the coast.

With the hotel on the beach side of the village, the car can come right to the entrance on Turizm Bulvarı instead of waiting up on the highway, and bags go from the lobby straight into the boot. What usually costs time on the last morning is the business at reception: room keys, the safe deposit and any extras still on the bill. Settle it the night before, keep passports in the bag you carry, and the departure can begin at the minute agreed when you booked.

• Use the full hotel name on the return booking as well: at five in the morning, a driver looking only for 'Akman' in Çamyuva could stop at the other one.
• The cliff road rarely causes delays; the Konyaaltı junctions and the ring road at rush hour do, so that is where the spare time is spent.
• Ask again for children's seats on the departure leg, because they are fitted before the car sets off for Çamyuva and cannot be added at the gate.
