Leaving central Kemer starts with the town, not the highway. The car comes down Deniz Caddesi to the door, the cases go in, and then it works back through the streets to the D400. At four or five in the morning that takes a few minutes; around midnight the bars by the marina may still be emptying, and during the morning rush the town's own traffic is heavier. From the junction the order is the coast highway north, the tunnels, Göynük and Beldibi, then Konyaaltı and the ring road, and the 55 minutes for the 62 km assume exactly that sequence.

A hotel in the middle of town has one real advantage on the last day. When the flight leaves in the evening, the hours after checkout can be spent in Kemer itself, on the promenade, at the marina or over a long lunch, with the luggage left at reception, rather than sitting beside a pool waiting for the car. Fix the pickup time when you book, counting back from the departure, and have the bags at the reception desk at that hour so the driver is not left going round the block while the cases come down.

• Put a mobile number on the booking: if the street outside is busy, the driver can ring and tell you exactly where the car has pulled in.
• Antalya's ring road slows down far more than the coast highway, so build the margin for a morning departure in at the city end, not the Kemer end.
• A week near Kemer's shops tends to add bags; if the count has grown since arrival, tell us before the morning so a car with enough boot space comes.
