The way out is the way in, read backwards: the village roads of Çamyuva up to the D400, north past Kiriş and Kemer, the coast highway and its tunnels through Göynük and Beldibi, and finally Antalya's ring road to the terminal. Of all of that, the part most likely to cost time is the city end. Before dawn the coast road is close to empty, but from mid-morning the Konyaaltı junctions and the ring road fill up, so treat the 65 minutes for the 70 km as the floor and add margin on a weekday morning.

Since the hotel sits on the beach side of the village, the car comes right to the entrance rather than waiting up on the highway, and loading takes a couple of minutes. What normally holds up an early start is the bill, not the road. Settle any extras the evening before, keep passports and the booking reference in hand luggage rather than in a case already in the boot, and have the bags at the door at the agreed hour; the driver will be there at that time.

• Around midday the cliff section between Göynük and Konyaaltı is where coaches bunch up, so a pickup half an hour earlier than the bare arithmetic suggests is cheap insurance.
• Child seats are fitted before the car sets out for the hotel, so ask for them again on the departure leg even if they were on the arrival.
