Heading for the airport, the car first retraces the local part: Sahil Caddesi, then Kiriş Caddesi up to the D400. Those three kilometres carry hotel shuttles and delivery vans in the morning, so they can take longer than their length suggests. Once on the highway, the route is the coastal run north through Kemer, Göynük and Beldibi, the tunnels under the mountains and the long seafront at Konyaaltı, before the ring road skirts the city towards the terminals. The 60 minutes is a fair estimate on a quiet road.

Kiriş lies a few kilometres beyond Kemer town, yet the stretch most likely to slow you down is the entry to Antalya, where the coast road becomes a city boulevard with traffic lights. Early flights clear it easily; late-morning departures on Saturday changeover days do not. When you arrange the return, give the flight time and let us work the pickup back from it, adding a margin for the boulevard rather than for the mountain section, which flows freely.

• Wait at the hotel's main entrance rather than down by the beach; that is where the car pulls up.
• If the beach is your last stop on departure morning, remember the walk back across the road and up to the room before the agreed time.
• A party with bulky luggage or a pushchair should say so at booking so a vehicle with enough boot space is sent to Kiriş.
