Antalya Airport to Moonlight Beach Kemer transfer
Moonlight Beach — Ayışığı, as everyone local calls it — is a managed bay park at the seaward edge of Kemer town, a pine-backed cove with the Beydağları standing directly behind it. It is not open shore you wander onto. The bay is enclosed, you pass a gate to get in, and the ground behind the water is laid out with grass, walkways and shade under the trees rather than left as scrub. The shoreline is pebble, as it is along the whole Kemer coast, and the marina sits immediately next door, which is why an afternoon here and an evening on the quay tend to be the same outing.
The run from Antalya Airport is 62 km and about 55 minutes, and almost none of it is spent in Kemer. The car crosses the top of the city, drops to the sea at Konyaaltı, then follows the D400 where it is cut into the mountainside, through short tunnels and long bends past Beldibi and Göynük. Kemer arrives abruptly at the end of that stretch, and the park lies beyond the centre on the marina side, so the final minutes are town streets rather than highway. It is the city bypass that costs time here, not the coast road.
Visiting Moonlight Beach Kemer
What the gate buys you is an organised bay: cut grass under the pines, paths down to the water, and a shoreline of pebble that shelves away within a few steps. Because the mountains rise straight off the back of the cove, the light leaves early — the sun is off this water well before it sets, which is welcome in August and chilly in May. The pebble is the thing to come prepared for. It is comfortable to lie on and unkind to bare feet, and the few metres where you walk in are where people lose their footing.
Three or four hours is what most people give it, and that is the awkward length for a car: too long to leave a driver sitting at the gate, too short to write off the day. From Kemer, Göynük or Beldibi the answer is simply a return run with no waiting at all: a few minutes each way from a hotel in the town, around a quarter of an hour from Göynük, twenty to twenty-five from Beldibi. From Belek it is about an hour and twenty minutes in each direction, from Side an hour and forty and from Alanya close to two and a half hours, so the park becomes one item in a Kemer day that also takes in the marina and the town, and the car stays with you for the whole of it.
Come in the morning if you want the water flat and the shaded ground still free; come at four if what you want is the walk, the wall of mountains across the bay and dinner afterwards. The marina is the natural second half — a few minutes away, busy in the evening, and the one part of Kemer that is better after dark than in daylight. Inland, the Göynük canyon lies twenty minutes back towards Antalya, which turns one booking into a cool morning in the gorge and a warm afternoon by the sea.
- The shore is pebble from end to end, so water shoes matter more here than a towel does.
- Shade comes from the pines behind the water rather than from the beach, and the shaded ground is the first thing taken on a hot day.
- This is an enclosed park with a gate, so expect to be counted in and out rather than to drift off along the shore.
- The water deepens within a few steps of the edge, which suits swimmers and asks for a hand on small children.
