Antalya Airport → Kalkan Transfer

Kalkan is stacked up a hillside above a small harbour: white houses with wooden balconies, bougainvillea over the walls and restaurants on the roofs looking down at the bay. The old town is a grid of steep stepped lanes, and above it the slopes are covered with villas and private pools, which is how most people stay here — a self-catering week rather than an all-inclusive band. The beach is small and shingly, so days often start with a boat instead. Dalaman is the nearer airport, but a great many flights only serve Antalya, which is why most of Kalkan arrives from 210 km away.

It is a long drive and worth picturing in advance: the ring road, the D400 down the Kemer coast, the forest pass above Kumluca, the citrus flats at Finike, the headland bends into Demre, the inland mountain crossing to Kaş, and finally the corniche between Kaş and Kalkan, cut into the rock high above the water. Figure on about 170 minutes for the 210 km. On a late flight the half beyond Demre is driven in the dark, with no lighting and almost no oncoming traffic — precisely the stretch most people would rather not take on themselves after a flight.
