Kalkan to Kaş private transfer

Kalkan has the villa and the pool; Kaş has the boats. The day trips out to Kekova and the sunken city, the dive schools with their own jetties, the passenger boat across to the Greek island of Meis, or Kastellorizo — all of them start from Kaş harbour rather than Kalkan's, which is why most villa weeks include at least one run along this road. The rest is evenings: the lanes behind the Kaş quay hold more tables, more music and more open shops than a Kalkan rooftop, and nobody wants to drive a cliff road home after dinner.

Eastwards it is the same 27 km of cliff shelf and about 30 minutes, but it drives differently. Out of Kalkan the road climbs to the D400 and starts the run above the sea at once, the drop on your right rather than your left, the gorge at Kaputaş appearing under the bend before the road works its way round the headlands towards Kaş. Early in the day the sun sits straight ahead over the water and the bends arrive out of the glare, which is why this run is easier an hour after sunrise than at first light. The descent into Kaş is a set of bends down to the harbour, where the streets narrow and the last part to the quay is usually on foot.

• If a boat day is the plan, ask to be set down at the harbour end: the quay is long, so take the name of the boat with you.
• Evening returns are the busier half of this run — agree the pickup point and hour before you go down to dinner, because the waterfront itself is closed to traffic.
• In high season the Kaputaş layby and the parking around Kaş harbour fill at the same time of day, so a July afternoon takes longer than thirty minutes.
• Say how many are travelling back and what is likely to come with you: a morning at the market fills a boot faster than luggage does.
