On the departure morning the arrival simply runs backwards: west along the boulevard towards Lara, then north on Kardeş Kentler Caddesi to the terminal roads, the same 16 km. Before sunrise the boulevard is empty and the airport comes up well inside the time quoted. From late morning onwards it is a different road, with transfer coaches turning in and out of every hotel gate on the strip, and that slow procession is the reason to keep the full 20 minutes in the plan rather than the dawn figure.

In the dark, the name on the booking matters more than the brand. Delphin Imperial and Delphin Palace stand only a short way east of the Diva, and before sunrise one lit Delphin sign looks much like the next, so the pickup should read Delphin Diva, Yaşar Sobutay Bulvarı 342, with the main entrance as the meeting point rather than the beach or the pier. Guests who like a last swim off the pier should take it the evening before an early flight, not the morning of it, so that nothing wet goes into the cases.

• Set the pickup from the hour you need to be inside the terminal; with so short a road, nearly all the margin is spent on queues, not on the drive.
• Settle any extras at reception the evening before a pre-dawn departure, because a queue at the desk at five in the morning holds the car as well.
• A baby seat or booster is booked per leg, so request it again for the drive back even if you had one on arrival.
